About

The idea for Love Your Neighbor began with a simple conversation.

While rollerblading through San Francisco, Markus was approached by a man experiencing homelessness who asked him for money. Instead of ending the interaction with a few dollars, Markus stopped and listened. After spending over an hour hearing the man’s story, his new friend said something unforgettable: “This conversation meant more to me than if you had given me a hundred dollars.”

That moment revealed a profound truth: every person—regardless of their background or circumstances—longs to be seen, known, and connected.

A few years later, after marrying Jen, they felt God leading them to move into San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood. What began as a desire to know the people living around them became a journey of building authentic friendships, cultivating community, and discovering the joy of intentionally loving their neighbors.

Today, we live in a society where many people don’t know those living right next door. In fact, nearly three out of four Americans don’t know their neighbors well, according to the Pew Research Center- https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2025/05/08/how-connected-do-americans-feel-to-their-neighbors/. As loneliness and division continue to grow, we believe God has called His people to live differently.

We are passionate about loving Jesus, loving our neighbors, and helping others do the same. Through simple, intentional acts of kindness and genuine relationships, we believe neighborhoods can become places where people are known, cared for, and connected. Our mission is to love our neighbors, neighborhood and empower others to do the same. Join us as we inspire a movement of people who intentionally love their neighbors, strengthen their communities, and reflect the love of Christ—one relationship at a time.
